Trump chuckled and interrupted him to say, "We need this question. This is the first question and nothing else was said leading to the criticism but trump who is known to never letting anything pass had this to say

"Am I morally obligated to defend the president every time somebody says something bad or controversial about him? I don't think so!" Trump wrote pn twitter, ending an unusually long period of silence after he was largely quiet on Friday.

If you recall Trump, helped fuel a birther controversy  in 2011 by repeatedly demanding Obama prove he wasn't born in Kenya,

According to the bombastic businessman who  struck a different tone after his rant on twitter, after  being  asked that he would have "no problem" with appointing a Muslim American to his cabinet if he were elected.

According to him, On Saturday Trump did not back down, saying it was the first time in his life he had caused a controversy "by NOT saying something."
"If someone made a nasty or controversial statement about me to the president, do you really think he would come to my rescue? No chance!" he tweeted.
"If I would have challenged the man, the media would have accused me of interfering with that man's right of free speech. A no win situation!"
