Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu held a special thanksgiving service on Monday, in Enugu, his country home where he rededicated himself to the service of the nation.
At the reception after the thanksgiving, he gave a brief account of what the closing year 2015 had thrown his way and how he navigated through the hurdles.
He attributed his political success, re-election to the 8th Senate as well as emergence as the deputy Senate president again as the work of God.
Ekweremadu said: “About two years ago, nobody would have believed that we will be here talking about Ike Ekweremadu being a Senator again, let alone being the Deputy President of the Senate. But, by the grace of God, I am today not only the Senator representing Enugu West, but also the Deputy President of the Senate.
He also specially gave thanks to God for sparing his life even as he was targeted for assassination some months ago while revealing that he remains undisturbed and not scared despite the incident.
“In November, there was an attempt on my life, but God saved me. I am not scared and I want to reassure the people of Nigeria that we will continue to serve; we want to continue to deliver services without fear or favour.”
