Saraki’s Lawyers cleared by NBA

The lawyers of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who walked out on the Code of Conduct Tribunal, have been cleared by the Nigerian Bar Association. Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Saka Issau, Ahmed Raji and Mahmud Magaji, led 23 lawyers out of the courtroom in protest against the ruling of the Justice Danladi Umar-led tribunal. Justice Umar had on Thursday, ruled that the false assets declaration trial of Bukola Saraki at the tribunal would continue in spite of his pending appeal with respect to the case at the Supreme Court. Consequently, Saraki’s legal team staged a walkout, to register their disagreement with the ruling.NBA President, Augustine Alegeh (SAN), however, says that the lawyers were queried immediately after the incidence, and the NBA was satisfied with their response.“I was at the airport when the news broke and within one hour, I called the lawyers. I called the General Secretary and asked him to send letters to them. The letters were sent immediately and they responded.”“We had a meeting on Thursday and by Friday we received their responses. We are satisfied with their responses and we do not see any need to proceed further on those lawyers except there is any new information that is available to us.” Source: YnaijaFacebooktwittergoogle_plus
