On February 20, Samsung launched its new smartphone series- the Galaxy S10, with its various unique features and specs. The unveiling of the S10 series would be the first among the product launch Samsung has in store for its consumers this year. The S10 series has been projected to be a very strong rival to the not-so recently released Apple X series.
Although the official shipping of the Flagship trio is slated to begin on the 8th of March, pre-orders of the stock has commenced as the last of the series- Galaxy S10 5G would be released in the 2nd quarter of the year and mostly speculated to be available by June. Samsung can boast of its latest technological break as it also unveiled- Galaxy Fold, the world’s first foldable phone doubling up as the first-ever consumer-ready foldable smartphone, with its 7.3-inch display when folded and its network capacity of LTE and 5G. The product is expected to be available by April with its starting price estimated at about $1980.
However, according to a market summary of the smartphone shipment in the last quarter of 2018, Samsung and Apple witnessed a market share value of 18.2% and 18.2% respectively. This is however projected to change with the influx of the Samsung S10 smartphone series.
The four versions of the latest S10 series include; Samsung Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S10 5G. The S10 series have a unique edge-to-edge display, with a memory capacity of up to 128GB and an extendable memory slot. The features also include a fingerprint reading screen, an International Protection (IP)-IP68 Water resistance and a wireless charging option which enables consumers to charge other devices merely by placing them side by side3 at the bottom.
This launch will keep Samsung ahead of its competitors as its closest competitor; Apple isn’t expected to launch a 5G phone till the last quarter of 2020. However, with this latest innovation from Samsung, Apple Inc. might decide to speed up the launch process of the 5G phone series. The starting price for the S10e, S10 and S10+ are $749, $899, and $999 respectively.
